Chief Ouray Gun Club Range Rules

1.  Violators of these rules may be asked to leave, are subject to criminal/civil sanctions, and have membership revoked;


2.  All users are responsible for range safety and correcting unsafe conditions. Report unsafe facility conditions to a club officer;


3.  Firearms must be carried muzzle-up with actions open when transporting firearms;

4.  Firearms MUST be kept unloaded until on the firing line;

5.  Muzzles must be pointed downrange when at the firing line;

6.  Maintain a minimum of 10 yards from the target when using steel targets.

7.  Shooters/observers MUST wear ear/eye protection at all times;

8.  Firing is permitted ONLY when ALL persons are behind the firing line in authorized areas and safe shooting conditions exist;

9.  Firearms are not to be handled during "range-safe" periods, or when people are in front of the firing line;

10.  Targets are to be set-up so that all bullets impact “downrange” berm;

 

11.  The use of clay throwers is prohibited as shot may impact above the “downrange” berm;

 

12.  Shooting explosive targets or detonating explosives (other than small arms cartridges) is prohibited;

13.  Incendiary/tracer rounds, steel shot, steel bullets and .50 BMG is prohibited. No shooting at glass/bottles;


14.  There are NO trash receptacles at the range - if you bring it in, pack it out; clean up your trash, brass, used targets, ammo boxes, etc.;


15.  Alcohol/drugs are prohibited on the premises. Persons who have consumed alcohol or are under the influence of drugs are prohibited from shooting;


16.  If there is more than one shooter, one must assume role of Range Safety Officer;


17.  Pets and children under 18 must be supervised by a parent/guardian at all times;


18.  First come, first served. When Range 4 (rifle range) is in use, the use of all other range lanes is strictly forbidden;


19.  Your membership is good only for you and your immediate family (spouse/children who live with you). Guests must obtain their own membership on the second visit. Guests CANNOT use the range without a member present. Do not share the range gate code with ANYONE.

20.  May through August between the hours of 0900-1000, Range 4 (rifle range) will have priority on the first and third Tuesday and the second and fourth Saturday of the month.

21.  Range hours: During Daylight Savings Time, the range is open 9:00 am to 7:00 pm.  During Mountain Standard Time, the range is open 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
