We're a Family Friendly, Affordable Gun Club and Self Service Range.  An annual membership cost just $50 a year for Individuals and Families.

The shooting sports have been around Ouray County for as long as, well, as long as Ouray has been around.

The club’s archives contain photos of competitive and pleasure shooters dating back to the early 1900’s. However, The Chief Ouray Gun Club wasn’t officially formed and named until decades later, in 1955.

The Chief Ouray Gun Club is made up of Ouray County's year-round and seasonal shooters as well as a smattering of folks from outside the area, who simply like to shoot and practice at our picturesque range. The Chief Ouray Gun Club has been a proud member of the NRA since the club's inception in 1955.

The range was originally located between what are now the Twin Peaks and Box Canyon lodges. Later, the Club acquired the land where it's range currently resides - just south of Ridgway, across from Orvis Hot Springs.

Our humble club and range is pleased to offer something for everyone and for every shooting sport. Rifles, shotguns, handguns, and bow and arrow are all welcome at the Chief Ouray Gun Club range.

We invite you to join us as a member and look forward to a long relationship with you, your friends, and your family.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Hours of Operation: 9:00 AM - Dusk

Gun Club officer's statement regarding COVID-19.
The COGC Range remains open to members. We are an outdoor only range and so the risk of transmission of COVID-19 is greatly reduced. We encourage any members, who use the Range during the epidemic, to practice social distancing guidelines and sanitize and washing hands frequently, avoid touching your face, Etc.
All of these things should be standard practice in the use of firearms at the Range anyway. Toxic gunpowder residue will reside on your hands during practice.
