Chief Ouray Gun Club Range Rules

1.  All range users and shooters are personally responsible for range safety and safe shooting;

2.  All shooters are responsible for immediately correcting any unsafe condition(s);

3.  If you observe any unsafe facility condition, report it immediately to a club officer;

4.  All shooters and observers MUST wear ear and eye protection at all times;

5.  Firearms must be carried with the muzzle up, and actions open when transporting firearms from vehicles to the firing line or from one range lane to another;

6.  Muzzles must always be pointed down range when at the firing line;

7.  Firearms MUST be kept unloaded until on the firing line;

8.  Firing is permitted ONLY when all persons are behind the firing line and safe shooting conditions exist;

9.  Firearms are not to be handled during "range safe" periods, or when people are in front of the firing line;

10.  All shooting is to be into backstops only;

11.  No shooting at unauthorized targets including but not limited to the target frames themselves, cans, bottles, boxes, the porta-potty, etc.;

12.  All shooting will be in authorized areas only;

13.  There are NO trash receptacles at the range - if you bring it in, pack it back out.  Clean up after yourself;

14.  Clean up after yourself - including but not limited to trash, brass, used targets, ammo boxes, etc.;

15.  Respect other shooters, spectators and their equipment;

16.  Alcohol and drugs are prohibited on the range premises;

17.  Persons who have been consuming alcohol or are under the influence of drugs are prohibited from shooting;

18.  Please follow these rules while using the range. Violations will be enforced. Violators may be asked to leave the range, are subject to criminal and/or civil sanctions, and may have their membership privileges revoked by the Board of Directors;

19.  If there is more than one shooter, one person must assume the role of Range Safety Officer;

20. Pets and children under the age of 18 must be supervised by a parent or legal guardian at all times;

21. When the rifle station on the hill on the south end of the range is in use, the use of all other range lanes is strictly forbidden due to safety concerns;

22.  Thanks to the generous donation by Sani-Serv Montrose, we are lucky enough to have a port-a-potty at the range.  Please keep it clean and free of vandalism so that we may continue to have a potty at the range.

23.  Your membership is good only for you and your immediate family members (spouse and children) who live with you;

24.  You may, from time to time, bring guests to the range with you.  The club expects, however, that after their second visit to the range, that the guest obtain their own membership.  Guests are not allowed to use the range without a member present and will NOT be given gate access codes.    Additionally, it is your responsibility to be sure your guests are aware of and follow all Club range rules;

25.  Do not share the range gate code with ANYONE.  Doing so may result in membership revocation by the Board of Directors.
