The Range Then and Now
It's easy to forget how much progress has been made at the range over the past 8-10 years. As I was combing through photos, selecting the ones for this page, even I was amazed at how far we've come over the years. I'd forgotten how terrible the range looked, once upon a time. Not only was it an eyesore, but it was hazardous as well. There were large rocks in the backstop, which created a ricochet hazard as well as lots of other rocks and debris which were trip-and-fall hazards. Thanks to hundreds of volunteer hours and thousands of dollars in donations, the range looks 150% better! Have a look for yourself:

Chief Ouray Gun Club Range on September 29, 2018, after our most recent clean up day. Notice the addition of the beautiful stairs, leading up to the awesome long-range rifle stations up above (added in 2013). That set of stairs used to be nothing more than a very precarious "mule trail" before our volunteers got hold of it. Now this entire range is something to be proud of! In fact, I think we have one of the nicest ranges in the area and we certainly have the best views!

Here's a very stark comparison - 2010 versus 2018. This is roughly the same angle of the same range lane (our middle lane).
