Range Clean Up, BBQ and Open House
September 29, 2018 from 9:00 am until (about) 3:00 pm.
The Club will provide bottled water, brats, hot dogs, buns, and all of the toppings for the lunch.
President Bob Morss will bring: backhoe, club's canopy shelters, gun club tables.
Mike Ardoin will pick up and bring: hammer and nails if needed, to put up new wood target backs, linseed oil, turpentine, brushes.
Gayle Buske will pick up and bring the following: 409 cleaner, paper towel rolls, toilet paper for port-a-potty, bottled water, brats, hot dogs, buns, sauerkraut, mustard, ketchup, fire extinguisher, first aid kit, trash bags, ice, charcoal, lighter fluid, paper plates, plastic silverware, napkins, her famous homemade pickles, and salt and pepper.
Volunteers are needed for range clean up day to perform the following work:
a. Weed whacking;
b. Spreading of gravel at firing lines;
c. Compacting of gravel at firing lines (Dave Ficco, lead);
d. Oiling the tops of shooting tables using linseed oil (club will provide the oil and brushes);
e. Burning off/seasoning of the never-before-used grill on the middle range. This needs to be done BEFORE range clean up day so that it is ready to use that day. Jim and Gayle Buske will do this while they are conducting their training classes on September 8 or September 22;
f. Replace target backs (hanging new board, which is already at the range);
g. Picking up of rocks that have fallen down/worked their way out of the backstops and side berms on each lane. These rocks will need to be moved elsewhere and off the lanes as they are a ricochet hazard;
h. General trash pickup and disposal;
i. Loading and hauling away of larger trash that has accumulated at the range. This will be taken to the landfill in Ridgway;
j. Clean port-a-potty with 409 (club will provide the rags and cleanser);
k. Prune any trees or bushes that may be in the way;
l. Does anyone have a chunk of tin (we don't need more than about 3 ft x 3ft piece) and a cinder block they could donate to the gun club? We need to cover the grill at the range to help prevent rusting once it's been burned off and "seasoned";
Items that the Board kindly requests range clean up attendees bring along, if available:
a. A dish to pass (side dishes that go well with brats and hot dogs, dessert items, salads, are all appreciated);
b. Garden rakes;
c. Weed whackers;
d. Pickup trucks and/or utility trailers to haul trash to the landfill;
e. Pruning nippers/shears;
f. Wheel barrows for hauling rocks and other rubbish;
g. Flat shovels (back in Wisconsin we called them barn scoops) to be used to level out the gravel by the range lanes and for scooping up rubbish;
h. A chair to sit on, if you wish to sit;
i. And please, invite any friends who may be interested in joining the Gun Club and are curious about what we have to offer.
